    Hi,

I have enabled WordPress Multisite and I also created my first sub-domain website. My main site is http://example.com and my second site is http://community.example.com/. I was so excited an all after I created my new website and I clicked to view it but I got ‘Oops! Google Chrome could not find community.example.com’ error 🙁 .. then I remembered I read something about Wildcards.. I added a Wildcard as it is explained in this article but I’m still getting the not found error.

Is there any other steps I am missing? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Update: I figured out what the problem was. When I created a Wildcard, my hosting cPanel (Bluehost) adds the word ‘Wildcard’ to the end of my document root, so my document root was /public_html/Wildcard. I changed it to /public_html and that fixed the subdomain issue. Now http://community.example.com/ is accessible via admin and browser 🙂 .

I read somewhere about installing the Domain Mapping plugin, I guess I don’t need to install that plugin, and I am not sure what exactly that plugin does.

    Thanks

This plugin allows you to add additional domains to your multisite installation. Instead of having domain.com and sub.domain.com you could have domain1.com and domain2.com.

If you are strictly using subdomains you don’t need to worry about this.
