Support » Themes and Templates » New Search box after updating Twenty Eleven Theme

  • I just updated Twenty Eleven and next thing I know I have white dead space at the top of my page and second search box. Fixed the dead space but now the new search box is to the right and under my header picture. I already have a search box which is located at the top of my side bar. How do I remove the new search box? I am a novice so I need someone that can give simple directions please. All help hugely appreciated!!

Second search box? Have you been modifying the default Twenty Eleven theme?

Nope, yes. I went to Themes, customize then went down and clicked on Header Image and clicked the original header I think. I did not mess with the editor CSS.

But Twenty Eleven only has 1 search box…
Can we see your site, please?

Whats the easiest way to show you the site when its not public yet?

I tried just now but it only shows the text not the header pic or the search boxes. Can I email you the loging info and I will change the password after?

This is what I get when I copy that page into here. Let me know if this helps. Thank you!!

Can you use and link us, the CSS and HTML of one relevant page?

Love to but I have no clue how to use Pastebin. IF you can tell me how to do what you are asking I will do it. I have to step away from my desk for a little while. Thank you for all your patience and willingness to help me. I will check to see what your response is in just a short while.

    Thank you!

It’s really difficult for us to tell you specifically which files to show, as we don’t know anything about your website, other than you use Twenty Eleven Theme.

    Here’s a start,
load your web page relevant and assuming you’re on Windows, right click anywhere on the page and select, “View Source”.
The subsequent pop-up window will contain the page’s HTML code.
Can you first use to show us this HTML?

Alright, I pasted the HTML into pastebin. Let me know what you think. I really appreciate you looking into this for me. One day I will know enough to help someone else out I hope.

as you obviously have not read the instructions, here again:

    How to use a pastebin

    • Highlight and copy the code you wish to post in the pastebin
    • Navigate to
    • Place the browser’s cursor in the pastebin’s New Paste entry box.
    • Paste the code you copied into that box.
    • Scroll down and click the Submit button.
    • Position the browser cursor in the browser’s address (location) bar and copy the URL that appears in it. This is the URL for your pastebin code.
    • Paste the URL into your WordPress forum post, so people who reply to your post can view your code.

please post the link to that pastebin.

ideally, get your site public, and post a link to your site.

Got it fixed guys! Thank you for all your help!!

I am having the same problem, but the Pastebin says invalid id. Could you share how you fixed it? Thanks, Ashley
