New posts are not picked up by new categories

Hello, I have quite a strange problem.

If I create a new category it will not display any new posts when I use a page to display them.

The category will show old posts in a page format and it will show the new posts when viewed as a category but a as a page page drawing posts from a category it won’t display anything new.

Is this a problem far too great to solve? Do I need to pay a word press genius to fix my woes?
