The area where you write a new post or edit a post, add images etc. the editor… it seems to be whack. I can only go 57 characters wide before it starts a new line.

My theme is twenty fourteen. I have tweaked the default 474px width to 800px. The pages look fine when published and viewed but the editor still is very narrow. It seems to be still at the Twenty Fourteen default 474 width even though I have been through every file and changed the 474 to 800.

It kind of sucks as it is difficult to see how the page will be laid out as you work. how can I fix this?

  • I would recommend that you edit the core files directly as I assume that is what you did to attempt to change the width.

I would suggest you try this plugin. https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-front-end-editor/

Found a work-around. two plugins, “Resize Editor” makes the work area the size you want and “Easy Wysiwyg Style” gives me the editor back to looking mostly like how it will look.
