# New Plugin: No Ping Wait

 * No Ping Wait is a simple plugin to get rid of the long post times caused by WordPress
   pinging all the sites listed in a post while you wait. All the posts are still
   pinged, but you can move on with your life while they are. [http://somethingunpredictable.com/wp-no-ping-wait/](http://somethingunpredictable.com/wp-no-ping-wait/)
   for downloads (if you get a 404, my server is having trouble, refresh once or
   twice)

 * Forgive me for asking, but what does this do that unchecking “Attempt to notify
   any Weblogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)” in Options/Discussion
   doesn’t?

 * From all I can see, for the default method of saving a post this option is ignored
   anyways. (Don’t you love unfixed bugs?) For editing a post, the option does affect
   without the plugin, with the plugin it pings no matter what, I might fix that,
   although I don’t really think its that much of an issue.

 * Can I use this with [Smart Update Pinger](http://www.daven.se/english/wp-plugins.html)?
   I like that extension because it only pings when I make a new post or draft (
   I’d prefer only a new post though).
 * Perhaps you could add that ability to only ping when making a new post and not
   editing into your plugin as an option…

 * Remove the line add_action(‘edit_post’… and you’re fine. I left the ping code
   in because its the default behavior of WordPress, and I’m just trying to make
   it faster not change everything.
