New plugin directory search – brand new plugins

    Let me start off by saying that I love the new WordPress.org plugin search. It is way easier to find things then before.

    It seems like now plugins are sorted much more then before by active number of installs. This is great if you are looking for a plugin.

    But I am a plugin developer, and I can see this making it much more difficult to get people looking at newly released plugins. Quick example, the first 8 pages for the keyword “ecommerce” are all plugins that have 1K+ active installs.

    I am not saying that the new search is somehow broken, I love it. I just think there needs to be a way for newly released plugins to somehow get noticed.
