New Plugin Directory Layout – Older Versions?

Hello,

when I search for plugins the new layout has become mandatory. I’m struggling with this layout to find the download section of older versions where I could also find the developer version in the past.

I’m lost as I’m not able to find the version section…!?

Hi Mohammad,

I’ve seen these options already previously, but to be honest the nice clean list of versions to download is not part of the options! No way to simply see an older version or the developer version for downloading!

I hope they bring it back, but meanwhile you can build these links yourself for pretty much any plugin, as long as you know which version you want.

The link structure is this:

https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/[PLUGIN].[VERSION].zip

example

Go to: https://wordpress.org/plugins/cf7-conditional-fields/

Right click on the Download button and select “copy link location”

If you paste it you should get something like this: https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/cf7-conditional-fields.1.2.2.zip

Now replace 1.2.2 by the version you want. For example version 1.1:
https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/cf7-conditional-fields.1.1.zip

extra

To get the development version of the plugin you can just leave the version number behind: https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/cf7-conditional-fields.zip

Is it possible to start an upvote/vote so this feature gets added back? I appreciate WordPress and all but it’s kind of ridiculous that its missing with the new design.

Oh and thanks for the instructions – they helped me download an older version of a plugin!

I feel the same, and was frustrated when I couldn’t figure out where to find the development list and links. However, there is a plugin called WP Rollback that takes care of this automatically from the WP Dashboard — it adds a “Rollback” link to plugins and themes that let you choose and install previous version. See https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-rollback/

There is now an “advanced view” just below the summary top right which brings a new page where you can easily download older and the developer version.
