[New Plugin] Advanced Recent Posts Widget

    I’m pleased to announce a new plugin called Advanced Recent Posts Widget that I developed. It is a light widget advanced version of the WordPress Recent Posts widget allowing increased customization to display recent posts from multiple categories or from custom post types.

    Some of the features include:

    * Display post thumbnails, with customizable size.
    * Display post excerpt, date, comment count, and more.
    * Provides option to:
    ***show the post excerpt and how long the excerpt should be.
    ***show the post excerpt and how long the excerpt should be.
    ***show the post date.
    ***show read more link
    ***show the comment count.
    ***override the post order to order by; date, title, random, comment count etc.
    ***select multiple categories
    ***select custom post type
    * Multiple widgets.

    This looks good, except I just downloaded it and there is no option to display a post’s image thumbnail. That is the reason I wanted this plugin. Is this a bug?

    Also, I like being able to select the categories it displays, but how about an option to automatically have it display the categories of the page the widget is on. I want to use it on multiple pages and don’t want to have to set up a widget for every page to show that page’s categories. Make sense? This would have to work with custom taxonomies to fit my purposes.

    Any ideas you have or if you can tell me how to modify it – that would be great!

    I should mention, I downloaded it from within the plugin area of WP admin, I didn’t download it from your link.

    Hey,

    It has an option “Show post thumbnail” check the FAQs here and also your theme should support post thumbnails.

    For custom taxonomies support, it’s a feature I will be adding by end of next week.

    About “an option to automatically have it display the categories of the page the widget is on” – I will add this feature in the next release or update(end of next week)

    Anthony, the feature of adjusting the number of words to include in the excerpt is not working for me….any ideas… i have checked “include post excerpt” and have the number 10 in the box next to number of words to include.
