now several months later this is still an issue. the new playlists functionality doesn’t work on most browsers. hope this will be fixed!

Seeing the same issue here, OS X Safari 7.0.5.

it was caused by my theme: Reader-theme of http://pjrvs.com/

Thanks for the update. Switching to the Twenty Fourteen theme didn’t seem to help. Also tried disabling a number of plug-ins with no luck. Whatever the issue I don’t think it’s theme-related.

Single video playback is fine so I wonder if something’s missing from the playlist script or HTML.

If I make any progress in figuring this out I’ll post back with an update for anyone else with the same issue.

That’s strange. I disabled all plugins except Akismet and used Twenty Fourteen and had no trouble. Maybe you’re using a caching plugin which leaves some old cached pages on the server. Happened to me as well.

The trouble maker was Jquery which was not being loaded correctly somehow ’cause of a bug in the theme.

Thanks again for the follow up.

I have WP Super Cache, but it’s currently disabled. I also have WP Minify, which was minifying HTML but not JS. I disabled it and switched to Twenty Fourteen and still have issues. I’m not totally ruling out my configuration, but so far I’m still not having any luck.

To be more specific about the problem (for anyone reading this) the video player and play list load fine. Clicking on another video in the playlist switches the video in the player (i.e. the src attribute changes). But when attempting to play a video the player goes into a loading state (spinner and timeline loading animation) but then nothing happens. I’m guessing there’s either a bug somewhere in the JS that plays the video or something wrong with my copy of Safari.

The only thing I’ve found so far is that the stand-alone video player includes a source element nested in the video element while the playlist video player does not. I wouldn’t expect that to really cause the issue I’m seeing, but I haven’t had a chance to investigate further.

If you’re using WP Super Cache you are probably looking at a cached version. When all plugins are disabled and with the default theme active, the playlist should show up imo. Happened to me and made me switch to a different theme. Which is perfect by the way! 🙂 See http://independentpublisher.me
