New Pages won’t update or publish

    I am less than 4 hours into a new WordPress.org account and I cannot start or update a page and get a red bar with a the phrase “updating failed” or “publishing failed” when I try to alter or start a Page. WP does leaves these pages as an Auto Draft. It does let me make some basic change from the Main Pages site doing a “Quick edit” like changing the title or slug but I can’t do this once I open a page to edit. It is giving a “Failed to load resource: the server (…I removed this long part….) responded with a status of 403 (Forbidden) when I check the JavaScript Console.

    I use google chrome and Mac 10.13.6. The only plugins I have are SG Optimizer and WordPress Starter.

    Please let me know what other information would be helpful in diagnosing this problem.

    Not sure what your wordpres.org account has to do with anything, but if there is a resource that can’t be loaded, then either the permissions are set wrong or it isn’t there.
    Can I assume you are using WordPress 5.0.2? and the new editor?
    If you can try with no plugins, or use the Health Check plugin (it’s the Featured one) which lets you deactivate plugins for just for you to test, that would give more information. Another thing to try is the Classic Editor plugin, to determine if it’s the editor or something else.

    Thank you and a big hug. I deactivated the “WordPress Starter” plug-in and pages are up and running without error.

    Funny side but under the plug in title it read…”This plugin is designed to provide you with an easy start of your next WordPress project!” They need to change this subtitle. 🙂
