  • I recently started a WP site and am trying to switch to multisite so that I can host sub-domains. My site is I am trying to create

    Originally I tried to setup the subdomain through bluehost, and then realized that was wrong. I enabled wildcard subdomains and followed this

    I had been getting a 404 index.php not found error when trying to access the dashbooard. Then I deleted the nba2lou domain and left the wildcard. Now I get a bluehost branded 404 error page.

    The end of my WP-config file:

    /* Multisite */
    define( 'WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE', true );
    define('MULTISITE', true);
    define('SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL', true);
    define('DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', '');
    define('PATH_CURRENT_SITE', '/');
    define('SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1);
    define('BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1);
    /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

    My .htaccess file:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^wp-admin$ wp-admin/ [R=301,L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $1 [L]
    RewriteRule ^(.*\.php)$ $1 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]

    I don’t need to install WP on the subdomain do I? It should all run from 1, right?

    Going to wp-admin sends me (correctly) to wp-login.php.
