• I have set up a new installation and have followed the instructions for setting up a multi-site install using the sub-directories option. Everything appears normal and even the primary site (1st site) at the root level is working fine. None of the new sites are working though. Everything is fine in the super user admin panel, I can edit all the meta info etc. for new sites, but when I go to visit the site… nothing is there but a 404 error.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you in advance!

  • How timely!! I was just about to post the same thing…The only difference is I had set up the site about a month ago…it wasn’t until after the upgrade I’ve been experiencing this problem…

I even got a message at some point that I had lost my data base..so I redid the .htaccess, the wp-config, and checked the blog.dir to make sure everything was in place as it should be before I proceeded to something drastic…

The sub-directory files are showing on the dashboard at Super Admin sites & in the WP FTP folders….but when I try to access them it just loops back to the main blog…no option to work on the individual sites themselves!

I’ve been working on this since 3:00 this morning…no real progress….Do not want to delete them all to start all over and the same thing happen…

Been trying to follow some of the prior threads, but I’m still not clear on how to proceed…have tried most of the suggestions with no progress.

It was suggested to maybe put my site up here with one of the subdirectories (don’t want to violate any rules or anything)…so here it is themobilemarketingmaven.com/adexchange (that one’s older & used to work and themobilemarketingmaven.com/restaurant (one that I tried to add since this morning)….

    Hope someone can help….

After trying many options, I’m thinking maybe it’s some coding that’s missing since I’ve already checked with my host server & there haven’t been any updates or any server changes….Strange because files exist…but there’s a loop or something happening (?)…

Any progressive suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What does it mean when it says:

“One or more database tables are unavailable. The database may need to be repaired” ?

Already tried the database repair and it just ends up on the same repair page..never redirecting anywhere else……

Is there something to that…..are their some files I need to create… will do whatever….just want some forward movement…:> Thanks

Make sure you updated your .htaccess files correctly.

I checked & triple checked and checked again…did all of that….Is there something new I should know about?

The blogs are virtual – they have no files on the server.

Hey Andrea, the ebook was great (matter of fact, I will be recommended from here forward)…but I still didn’t get very far on my end…I got rid of cache plugins and everything hoping that would be the “aha”moment…I’m back on a chat session with my host….

If we come up with something, I’ll let you know….

Okay, NOW I remember you. 🙂

    Yeah, neither of those work.

Disable all your plugin, yes every single one. What web host are you on?

Also – it’s not the coding in WordPress – it’s your server. If it was WordPress, we could reproduce the results.

Andrea, i hope you can help me…had trouble posting this in the forum, but i will if i need to …..Just spent the whole day trying to rebuild a whole other site….I was almost at the point of being able to add content when…this came up….

Script execution halted: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() — 1

What the heck is that….and how do I fix it? 🙁

    Any suggestions would be appreciated….

    Thanks
P.s. no word on that ticket yet…

    Answered in the other thread.

If this is a new install, look in the database. If the new blog tables aren’t being created, check the db user. Do they have *all* permissions on the db?

Okay, let’s backtrack here a second. WHAT files? The extra sites are virtual – there will be no extra files or folders on the server for each blog.

do you have extra folders on the server for each blog? Yes or no?
