Hello, I just installed this plugin yesterday and noticed no emails are being sent either. When I disabled it, the messages get sent.
I have Ajax selected (looks like websocket is only for premium anyway). How did you fix this for the other user?

@wordplus I’m having the same problem as well. I don’t receive an email notification for new message. I’m using Ajax for messages. I’ve tested on my admin and test account. What was the fix for @mbv?

Usually its the site configuration problem, like CRON is not running properly or BuddyPress can`t send emails for some type of error.
Can you check if you wp cron is running and BP sending other email good?
If that is fine better write directly to plugin support from WP Admin.
