A brand new installation isn’t showing any text except in page or post previews. It’s like white text on a white background. I click on Add New (page)and there’s no text cursor. If I type nothing appears until I click Preview.

I accepted defaults and added nothing new. Tried the 2015 theme instead of 2016. Appearance – Customize doesn’t help.

Appearance – Editor <- Does a brand new user really have to try and edit this CSS file?

Looking at published pages (2 or 3) doesn’t show the problem; it’s in the page and post editors.

    Grateful thanks for any help.

  • Hi aveenniker, Would t be possible for you to post the link of the site for us to get more information?

Ummm… I can see the text there.

typing didn’t appear at first on this post
At first posts seemed ok but adding a new page showed no new text I typed into it.

Has the problem been solved now?

So, you have the website http://henniker.org.uk/ configured in root directory.

You are trying to install WordPress in a subdirectory (/WordPress) which is itself inside the root directory.

This setup should work without any problem and WordPress should pick its files correctly.

This is unless, there has been some error/mistake in the installation process. Or possibly some error is pointing the sub-domain to the correct directory

At first I used Fasthosts One Click Installer. It failed with a lot of red text beginning: Installing: Error: A database query has failed. Is the entered database information correct? Does the account have available disk space? [continues].

Since then Fasthosts have attempted it manually. Their help statuse is currently “waiting on external provider”.

The issue has been resolved by Fasthosts, presumably with the the help of the “external provider”. They didn’t tell me what was wrong or how it was fixed.
