• What was the resolution for this ??

I have installed car demon as a fresh install on 2 different sites to make sure there wasnt a conflict in one theme vs. another. One site is just straight wordpress with a default theme that is built in, the other install is a custom theme i built.

I can not get the page to display any cars , when i preview the car i just entered only the headline and description text i enter show up. nothing else. I changed the permalinks as suggested on this tutorial http://cardemons.com/2014/11/11/build-a-car-dealer-website-with-wordpress-part-one/ and tried to load up my domain /cars-for-sale but its an empty page.

from the looks of it this plug in is exactly what i am looking for. I need to be able to add a car with all its information vin# , make model, mileage etc with a contact form. I was excited and had hoped this would work right out of the box but its not 🙁 spent the past 3 hours trying to trouble shoot and narrow if its the plugin, my theme and the 2 not connecting but i cant get it to work anywhere.

    Hi Joe,

You didn’t mention what theme you’re using, but let’s just say it’s Twenty Eleven.

1st. Go to Dashboard->Cars For Sale->Car Demon Settings
Let’s start by setting ‘Use Included Theme Files’ to true and make sure all the CSS settings are set to true. Make sure the slug setting is set to cars-for-sale

Now 2nd. Go to Appearance->Car Display Options and make sure it’s set to default. (if you set it to ‘Content Replacement’ then you should go back to settings and turn OFF the included template files).

Update your permalinks for good luck then go to http://yoursite.com/cars-for-sale

You should see your vehicles listed, if you don’t make sure you’ve added a Vin# and a Stock# to each one then try again.

    hope this helps,

Thanks for your response jay – however after doing the changes you recommend it blows up the entire page, the footer displays above my header, no content loads and whenever i hover over the blank area a magnifying glass pops up. I am using a custom theme. It seems to be a conflict somewhere. As much as i would like to use the plugin 🙁 im going to have to find an alternative solution. I appreciate your time.

I had to remove the plugin as it was breaking the layout of the other pages. Thanks again.

    Hello,

I’m having the exact same issue and have tried all of the suggestions that I’ve collected from different forums. If I switch to a generic theme the cars display perfectly. This site was built on Salient theme

    Disabling other plugins doesn’t work.

I can confirm it is theme specific and we will have to install a new theme or modify a page template which I am confident will fix it. But if you have other suggestions on what can cause this to happen it would be great.

    Thanks!

If you’re using a custom theme then you most likely want to set ‘Use included template files’ to false and then you’ll want to turn on ‘Content Replacement’.

This should tell Car Demon to use the template files from your theme and ‘replace their content’ with the vehicle data from the post.

The issue you’re describing sounds like template files are off and so is content replacement. If you create your own template pages in your theme then this is how you’d want your settings.

    hope this helps.

    Thanks for the quick answer!
    Here is the site:

Can you get a visual please?

    I just tried your suggestion.

BTW, I am not against installing on of the themes from Car Demons. This theme is a bummer 🙂

But would be nice to see it working so I don’t have to rush to make the move.

It looks like ‘Use included Theme files’ is still set to true.

Make sure you have that set to false in the Car Demon settings.

I can see the vehicle content loading btw, but it’s behind the green content box, almost like it’s a z-index issue.

    It is set to “No”
    http://www.drive1again.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=cars_for_sale&page=car_demon_settings_options
And I switched it to Yes and back to No. Both the same.
Where else should I be changing this?

That’s really odd. Tell you what, why don’t you swing by our website (cardemons.com) and fill out the comment form on the ‘About’ page and reference this thread. We’re curious about what’s causing this issue and would like to help you investigate it further.

I didn’t know you had the Car Demon Styles PlugIn installed.

Turns out the Styles PlugIn won’t work with your theme, so I deactivated it for you.

Then I set ‘Use included theme files’ to no and I turned OFF content replacement.

Your vehicles are now showing, but they don’t have a ‘template’ to show their details.

    Due to the way that theme is constructed you’ll need to either;

    1. Build your own custom template pages
    2. Write a filter for ‘the_content’ and populate the post body with the vehicle details.
