New image uploads aren’t cropped in thumbnails

    Hi! We have a strange problem. Our product thumbnails in the grid have an almost square ratio. With all our old images that still works and they look fine, but all newly uploaded images are suddenly not cropped but shown in their original aspect ratio. I first thought it was a problem with our newest batch of images, but I’ve now tried it with many different one, including ones I downloaded from our website and uploaded again, and it doesn’t matter at all. All older uploads look fine, all newer uploads don’t get cropped. We changed nothing in the appearance panel and the settings there are still correct. I checked the upload folder and the correct images sizes do get generated, they apparently just aren’t used in the grid. I have no idea where to start looking in fixing this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Thanks! It’s specifically on this site: https://krusteundkrume.at/backworkshops/ with the product “Buttrige Croissants” in the grid. If you click on the product you’ll see that the top row of tiny thumbnails for the other product images is also not cropped. This is not a problem with the specific product, it’s a problem with all newly uploaded images. The 720×810 version does get generated (I checked in the uploads folder on our server) but for some reason it doesn’t get used.

    I’ve been able to reproduce on your site what you reported on this thread.

    As a first step, can you disable the Lazy Loading functionality in WordPress? You can add this snippet using Code Snippets or download and activate the Disable Lazy Load plugin.

    However, I would also suggest a plugin and theme conflict test to ensure that a conflict is not causing this behavior. Please check out our guide on How to test for plugin and theme conflicts and follow the steps there.
