New humor site

    Hello all. I am working on developing a new humor based website. With Weird / funny news stories, almost daily blog, spotlight youtube videos, soon to be over 10,000 with more being added weekly funny images and more that I can not think of right now. I just finished installing and editing a new template a few weeks ago. Here is a link to the demo of that template.

    I edited quite a bit.
    ~I changed the theme of colors from greens to blues.
    ~I edited the header image to remove what I think was an rss image or something.
    ~I edited the layout and look of the footer
    ~Added advertisement spots and will be adding another one for paid banner ads when the time comes.
    ~Added a “Spotlight video” area
    ~Changed the “post date” image from a briefcase to a faded smile image from my logo/banner
    ~Changed the banner to my own custom banner.
    ~Like I said I changed the footer. I did however leave the credit to the person who originally designed the template and left their link. I did seriously consider just removing it like I am sure many, many, many, many people do with free templates. But I tried to give professional courtesy.
    ~I believe there was some other stuff I changed, but this gives the basics of it.

    I want to know what people think of the changes to the theme as well as the general site itself. It is far from complete but has been around for a few months now. You saw the way the template looks if you download it. Now here is a link to my site with the edited template in place.

    Hello laughmaster,

    Here is a few flaws: The background image and the header are pixelised.If probably happened when you changed the color. Try to redo the image editing operation but be carefull not to set the image quality too low when you save them. Also, this is something that was also present in the template, the footer text is duplicated (in bold white and in the regular text color) and is misaligned. I would also set borders in the CSS for the boxes in the footer since the comment “laughmaster @ Did Your Horoscope Predict” overlaps the box.

    Finaly here are two suggestions to improve: First, have the categories show up on the top bar as well as the sidebar, it will make your site easier to navigate. Also, change the permalink structure of your site, this will get you more traffic from search engines.

    To do so, go to your site’s Dashboard, then go to Settings -> Permalink. Select Custom structure and type: “/%category%/%postname%/”. This will make nicer urls.
