For the past few weeks a new bug has shown up in Contact Form 7, when trying to update the structure of outgoing Notification, in the “Mail” tab. Essentially, all of a sudden you cannot update contact form, in any way. Every attempt to apply an update ends up leading to a 404 Page Not Found error.
It took me a long, long time and A LOT of testing to narrow this issue down to what exactly was causing the failure. I removed plugins, themes, everything. I was amazed to find that it still occurs, even in a 100% new, clean site with absolutely NOTHING installed except CF7 itself.
Here is the Bug:
In the “Mail” Tab for setting up the New Submission Notification Email.
#1. Structure like this (no HTML) works fine.
Name: [your-name] Phone: [your-phone] Email: [your-email]
#2. Structure like this (HTML) works fine.
<p><b>Name:</b> [your-name] <br> <b>Phone:</b> [your-phone] <br> <b>Email:</b> [your-email]</p>
#3. Now Add ANY Inline CSS:
<p style="font-size:12px">Message generated by a form on the Your-Site.com website.</p>
As soon as that last line is added in the “Mail” tab –
You can no longer update this form, all efforts fail,
and you are redirected to a 404 Not Found Tab.
Only problem here… I use lines of code like in approximately 300 websites I manage.
WE CAN NO LONGER UPDATE ANY CONTACT FORMS ON ANY OF OUR 300 WEBSITES UNLESS WE REMOVE ALL INLINE CSS FROM ANY EMAIL NOTIFICTAION STRUCTURE.
Please respond… please help provide a fix.
I will happily show you the issue via private email if by request.
