    Hello,

I have been using the free version on this plugin for a while now and really love it. It’s simple and straight forward.

But now, I can’t seem to do a new backup. I’ve tried all kinds of settings, increase manual backup amounts, debug mode, etc. I’m not able to get any information on what went wrong or how to proceed.

    What should I do?

    Hi,

To help us work out the cause of your problem, can you please send us a copy of the backup log?
This log can be found in the Existing Backups tab of the UpdraftPlus dashboard.
If you cannot access the UpdraftPlus dashboard, then you can find the log file in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory via FTP or your hosts’ file manager.

    Best Wishes,

    Hi Bryle,

Thank you for your reply! That was my point – there is no backup log to view. If there was, I would have looked at it. Here is the latest log that I saw in the directory you mentioned: 112495 Nov 6 17:34 log.4e00252df17e.txt.

Since then I have tried numerous times to make a backup. Each time I only see what you can see on the attached graphic. As I said, it simply stopped working. It was working very well up until yesterday.

I was so impressed how well it works that I mentioned to my client that we should buy a license. He agreed, but I suggested – let’s see how they resolve this issue first before we buy the license.

Anything else I can do to help, please let me know.

This is a screenshot of your screenshot, do you see the three buttons, the one on the far right says”View log”: https://snipboard.io/hGt5yY.jpg

Can you download the log from here?

    Hello,

Yes of course I can download the log file. But it is specific to the last backup that was created and successfully saved on the 6th of November.

My problem is that I can longer do a NEW backup! If you like I can send the last backup on the 6th if you think it will help.

    Cheers

It doesn’t look like the backup now button is greyed out in your screenshot is this still the case?

When you press “Backup now”, does anything appear new under the bit that says” last log message:

In the Settings >> Show expert settings, next to “Backup directory” does it say the backup drive “writeable”

    Hello again,

In the screenshot that I first posted, you can see the message that is displayed. Then after a while nothing happens and the message goes away. What confuses me is that it was working perfectly until Nov 7th when I tried to do my daily backup (manually). The machine this it is running on is a development machine (WooCommerce development using Breakdance Builder).

I also just updated to the latest release of UpdraftPlus Version 1.23.12 and tried another backup. Same thing, the message appears and then nothing happens.

The only message I have seen in two days is this – Local files deleted: 1. Remote files deleted: 0 (Nov 08 01:05:55). But that was me deleting an old backup file.

    Yes, the backup file directory is writable. As I said, it was working until just a couple of days ago. Here the output from the advanced settings screen;

Backup directory specified is writable, which is good. This is where UpdraftPlus will write the zip files it creates initially. This directory must be writable by your web server. It is relative to your content directory (which by default is called wp-content). Do not place it inside your uploads or plugins directory, as that will cause recursion (backups of backups of backups of…).

Thank you for your continued help BTW!

Apologies for the delay, can you send us your php error logs from the root of your site?
