• Hi,

I’m new to both WP and Blogging…I’ve setup a couple of blogs (using categories to create more than one). They look real boring (I’m using the Boot Store template).

What I’d like is to have along side my latest post–in the ‘sidebar’ I believed–a place to subscribe (which I’ve manged to do) and below that the clickable titles of my previous postsd.

    1. Can someone recommend a good way to do this?

    2. Whatelse is good to have in the sidebar?d

Thanks so much for any help!

  • There are various plugins that you can use for subscriptions – JetPack for one –

    Others:

Look under Appearance > Widgets and you’ll see a bunch of possible widgets you can try in the sidebar. And look at other websites to see what they have – and what you like :)!

Thanks for replying!!! I have the subscriptions and tags in the sidebar. What I can’t seem to find is a plugin that will list post titles (of a specified category) as links to the posts. I’ll keep looking. I thought this was a common format for blogs but… I’ve perhaps read a dozen blog posts since blogging began. I’m a blog idiot!! So what do I know. I barely know what blogs are and now there’s ‘Blog Tours’?! What the heck are those? Never mind. I digress…

Gads, don’t you hate it when you’re hung up on one that that should have taken minutes and it’s taking days! 🙁

    Cheers,

There are quite a few plugins for category widgets –

See if one will do what you want 🙂

And yeah, there’s a lot of stuff to wade through sometimes – even when you’ve been around a while.

I learned a long time ago to double the number and go to the next-larger unit of measure whenever trying to anticipate the consumption of time something will take!

@leejosepho – LOL :)! Seems to apply to a lot of things in life indeed!
