Never been able to log in to dashboard

I’m brand new to WordPress. The domain host I have installed WordPress itself and I can sort of access parts of the page via phpMyAdmin. (I don’t know anything about codes or scripts really). But when I try to log in to my blog and get to this mysterious thing called a “Dashboard”, which I’ve never seen, it tells me something in some other language about not having the right username or password. What do I do? I have a username/password listed on my hosts summary page under Database user and Database user password. But it won’t let me use that. I’m frustrated. Can I go in somewhere and change it so it will work? I just don’t know where to go.
