    Hello,

    I hope this is a new question as I have not found any other that would answer my question.

    My customer has their existing site configured with a www. in their url. although in the servers side the domain is configured as example.fi not as http://www.example.fi but there is a autodomain set to www.

    When made the network I made it to use subdomains. The host is not supporting widcard subdomains, so I try to make the subdomain for the new site I created.

    I tried with both http://www.newsubdomain.example.fi and newsubdomain.example.fi and none of them is working. (giving Firefox can’t find the server at http://www.newsubdomain.example.fi. or newsubdomain.example.fi)

    Even though my network has been configured with the following in the wp-config.php:

    define( ‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true );

    define(‘MULTISITE’, true);
    define(‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, true);
    define(‘DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘www.example.fi’);
    define(‘PATH_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘/’);
    define(‘SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1);
    define(‘BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1);

    when I create a new site in the wp admin side, it gives example.fi as the end of the new domain, is this correct?

    I’m not sure what to do with the server side, as the wildcard subdomains are not allowed.

    I tried to put the real subdomain (newsubdomain.example.fi) and then make a new A record for the subdomain in the main domains DNS zone. Should I create a new DNS zone for my subdomain instead?

    It seems that in the server side the subdomain adding does not make any new records to the DNS zone of the maindomain. Do you think there is some thing wrong in the server side as with my other server provider adding a subdomain made also several records to the main domains DNS Zone.

    Can the reason for this problem be the server configuration or is it the http://www.- in my existing sites beginning that is causing the problem?

    Sorry for the messy clarification =)

    Wow, I got it working!

    I had installed domain mapping, but I remowed it and then made the following records to the DNS Zone:
    http://www.newsubdomain

    and it started to work!!! How happy I am, I have been fighting with this for 2 days now.
