Support » Networking WordPress » network install plugins error

  • I have been using WordPress MultiSite, since it was know as WPMU.

Only recently have I come across this problem:

I just installed a network version and am the ONLY user, so far.
Each time I try 2 install plugins (via wp-admin/network/plugin-install.php), I am presented with a screen saying “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

Because I installed the network, I am the super-user, and it says that when I click Users.
So I figured that is not the reason.

Upon futher investigation, I found the http headers indicated that after requesting the plugin-install page, it responds 500 (Internal Server Error). I got this error before when I tried 2 get a non-https page.

Most of WP seem 2 work fine, so perhaps there’s a http/https problem (with that page or its includes).

  • What I wanna know how can I install plugins, besides the FTP & activate method?

Only the network admin can install plugins via the WP Dashboard, and they can only do it on /wp-admin/network/plugina.php

    Per site users can activate.

If you’re getting a 500 error, check your server log to see what’s going on. You may have a separate issue.

    access_log says “GET /wordpress/wp-admin/plugin-install.php HTTP/1.1” 500 2982 “http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/plugins.php” “Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0”

error_log has no errors now, just heaps of [info]…

Please help me show this (plugin-install.php) page.

    What’s in your .htaccess file?
