I am trying to build a network install of wordpress, I’ve used plugins like BPS security and Website defender.
I think the issue is with Ubuntu’s apache2 configuration itself, it’s created www-data user etc and to copy anything into /var/www I have to sudo. I’ve tried CHMOD and CHOWN etc but still it yells at me.
When I go try and add a site it sends an email, and adds to the database but I get a 404 if I try the url.
Should I (1) try wipping out wordpress and starting over without implimenting the BPS security and website defender and seeing if it will create sites then (2) try to figure out what is going on with ubuntu and www-data, etc (3) start with a different distro, or (4) any other ideas.
