Support » Plugin: Ivory Search - WordPress Search Plugin » Needs the top padding removed on “teen” default themes

    I just tried this with both Twenty Sixteen and Twenty Seventeen themes, and both needed this CSS added to make the search box line-up better with the menus:

    .search-menu a { padding-top: 0; }
    .search-menu { margin-left: 20px; margin-top: -10px; }

    Perhaps you could include it in the plugin for more compatibility with the default themes?

    Also, some styling compatibility with this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search-live/ would be nice. Currently, Add Search to Menu isn’t wide enough for the auto-results that plugin produces. It works just fine with it, just the results go outside the bounds of the drop-down results.

    Hi @thefiddler,

    I hope you are well today and thanks for posting here.

    As said in the plugin description page, the styling of search form highly depends on how the theme styles search form but we can style it however we want by developing custom CSS code which you did here.

    If anybody don’t know how to develop custom CSS code then to style it correctly feel free to get free support from our support forum here Plugin support forum.

    We will consider your recommendation of adding custom CSS code in the plugin to style it for default WordPress themes.

    Best regards,

    Yeah, I was just suggesting that if 2 of the default themes need that, maybe it’s needed in most themes and so should be included in the plugin?

    If not, at least I’ve posted it here and others can use this CSS if they’re using it in one of the “teen” themes.

    Any tips on how to widen the results to encompass the Live Search plugin results better?

    Could you please share me your site URL where it’s displaying so that i can help you to achieve it?

    Thank you @thefiddler. Indeed, this CSS was helpful, if not necessary, for using this plugin with Twenty Sixteen.

    You’re most welcome @bradley.

    @vinod-dalvi unfortunately the site is not public. It’s for an internal site we use. But you could install the search-live plugin on a site alongside your plugin (that one is here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search-live/), and you’ll see that any live search results (posts typically) with a featured image, display much too wide for the borders of the results that appear from your plugin’s search box. Though now that I think about it, maybe it’s not your plugin/search box that’s responsible for this at all. I guess you’d have to look. I’m using it with TwentySeventeen theme.

    Hi Tevya,

    I’ve just configured this plugin and integrated with Dave’s wordpress live search plugin It is working like charm. Dave’s live search plugin is amazing in terms of managing the size of the results box. You could customize the theme, its position and many other things as desired.

    Thanks to Vinod for this plugin and integrating it with Dave’s made it a complete package for me.

    I chose this other one over Dave’s because Dave’s hadn’t been updated in a while (I’m pretty sure that’s why). But maybe I should give it another look?

    We’d really appreciate that. 🙂

    And if i can be of any further assistance please don’t hesitate to ask.
