So I have installed this simple shopping cart on my wordpress blog, and everything works perfectly. The one thing I want to do is on “successful purchase” is update a database with some information. At most simple I would like to just add +1 to the number of orders so I can keep track of how many people have completed an order. At most advanced I would like to send the information about the purchaser (i.e. email address, address, first / last name, etc).
For the first option, I imagine the easiest way to do this would be to edit the sendmail function, and just add a script to update a database by adding 1 to a number. This is not ideal but is fine for what I am doing.
For the second more complicated option, I imagine I would have to go through paypals IPN in order to retrieve the info about the buyer. Is this hard to do?
Thanks for any input.
