• I am sorry. I have searched this and found answers that I do not understand.

I am running the Energy theme for http://www.thedulcimerlady.com

I created a new page that I want just a few people to see, but it landed in the main menu bar at the top of every page and is very public.

I assigned the page under a Parent page and adjusted the Menu where it would show in an effort to get it to move to a sub-menu, but there is no change. I then went to the Widgets section, but WordPress changed how it looks and I don’t know what to do there. I did, however, set up Sidebar Widgets at the bottom of the page itself.

Even setting it as a Private page, it is still public! (Why is this?) I wish I could put it on a Draft setting, but that disappeared once I clicked on Publish. (And frankly, every time I’ve set up a page as a Draft, it becomes Public, too. Something is really off.)

Right now the page is in the Trash (I saved all the text to a Word doc), but it is STILL showing on the main menu, even though I went to Menus area and removed it (yes, I saved the Menu changes). An error 404 shows now, but I don’t like this; it tells people there is something on my site that they can’t see. I just want it off of there!

Do I need to delete the page from the Trash and start over? Moving the text to Word probably destroyed all the links I created.

I’ve been reading about “php” and code lines to add somewhere, but I don’t know where to do that, and don’t really understand >what< to do, or what it’s going to do. How I wish someone would walk me through this over the phone….a voice would be very helpful, and then I can write myself instructions that make sense. Very clear and concise how-to will be appreciated.

You can remove stuff from the menu from Appearances->Menus on the dashboard. No code is needed.

I’m afraid I have already done that, and the page title is still in the main menu bar on every page when I visit the site. I was careful to save the Menu changes, and in fact did a Search there: the page title is gone from Appearances>Menus but is still showing when I visit the site.

Should I delete the page from the Trash?

And has there been something inherently wrong with the Energy theme from the get-go? None of this should be difficult: I can’t get Drafts or Private pages to stay off the site, and now a trashed page still has a link on the main menu! These page options should all just WORK, shouldn’t they?

If that is the case, then you need to contact the developers of your theme who may not be using menus in the normal way.

Thank you, Steve for the URL. I just wrote to them and sent the URL to this discussion so they can see, in addition to making my expectations clear. This, I believe, should all be so much easier.
