Need to know what plugin the CHIVE uses for image resizing

If you see a link below, it is of an image hosted at thechive, definitely a wordpress site. Now, notice the ?=762 at the end of the image. If you change that value to whatever width you want, it will load an image with that width. This seems great to me that they can resize images as needed, and not as they are uploaded. Anyone else know what this is or how I can utilize it?
