    Hello, everyone,
I’m looking for a backup plugin where I can reset my WordPress page with just one click after it has been compromised, hacked, infected with malware, etc. I would also buy the plugin. No problem. But I want to be sure that the backup is stored on a secure path. I don’t want the backup to be infected by a virus. The backup must be protected against a virus infection. Does the UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin protect the backup? Is it possible? Thanks in advance for your help and advice. Best regards, Elena

    Hi,

Thanks for your interest with UpdraftPlus.

UpdraftPlus itself doesn’t have an anti-virus or security tool so it cannot detect any infected or compromised files. However, as long as you have a backup copy of your site, you should be able to restore your site from when all the files are pristine.

For the restoration process, you just need to follow a few steps to restore your website. We have a step by step restoration guide here – https://updraftplus.com/faqs/restore-site-updraftplus/

If you have more questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

    Hi Elena,

Sorry, I’m not sure if I fully understand your question. I believe you are asking if it is safe to download a backup from your remote storage or local storage? If so, then yes it is safe.

    Regards,
    Bryle

If you have the backup log, then this records the cryptographic (SHA256) hash of the backup archives. If you have your backup set, you can use any suitable tool (e.g. https://kanguru.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/235228027-SHA256-Checksum-Utilities) to check that the hashes match, and therefore that the archive has not been modified.
