  • My Wordfence doesn’t automatically change the files if I alter them. Is there something showing that Wordfence made the change?

    Thanks!

the only evidence is that if I deactivate wordfence, change the file, the file stays changed. As soon as I turn wordfence on it changes back.

I’ll ask Mark about it when we talk later today.

\The only other thing I can think of is if you are caching the site (like with our falcon engine or 2X) that its holding it in memory. There is an option on the options page for disabling config caching. Is that checked?

How are you changing the file? When I edit, I use an SSH-based editor that edits the file directly on the server.

Or are you using the admin to change it (appearance > editor). I confirmed with our developers that Wordfence does not change files back to the original versions.

Are there any caching tools on the site?

    Thanks!

I am changing the file via CPANEL file edit directly on the server.

I know you do some matching with repository files for themes, could this be doing something ?

No, because Wordfence doesn’t change the files. Nor do we block your ability to change them. (Confirmed with the dev team yesterday on our call) The best guess I have now is that one of your other plugins isn’t working well with ours turned on and this is the result.

We do have a repository of all plugins and themes and versions, but again this is for comparison purposes. You would get a warning in the admin that you had a changed file in your theme.

Can you send me a screenshot of plugins so I can dig further?

    Thanks!
