Need to change admin email address using FTP (4 posts)

I have a new client, he has a wordpress blog. We can't access his blog because he doesn't know the email address he used to create it.

I'm able to access his files using FTP. I need to know if there is a file I can change to reset the admin email.

    1) I don't have phpMyAdmin
    2) I'm largely unfamiliar with how WordPress functions
    3) I just need to know which file to download, change and re-upload.

    Thanks,
    Shannon

WPyogi -- I need to reset the USERNAME / EMAIL on the account not the password.

  4. There is no file that holds usernames and passwords; they are in the database. You need to be able to use phpmyadmin to change a username or email. Sure you don't have phpmyadmin in the control panel for the hosting account?

    See

It's possible to change it via FTP with a direct database query, but try the instructions above and look in your control panel for phpmyadmin.
