Support » Theme: Pictorico » Need Some Help With the Loop

  • Thanks for a great theme. My site, based on pictorico is here on a Media Temple staging server. The middle image in the top row is two “blocks” wide and would like to accomodate that with one link. So 7 pages in all are represented in the two rows. That’s right: pages not posts. So I’m confused about the best way to filter the loop contained in my front-page.php template so that the 7 featured images point to the seven pages in the main nav with the nice sliding titles and all. I’ve tried several things but I keep breaking things or getting blanks. Thanks in Advance.

Hi Dennis, what you’re trying to do would would require some pretty extensive customizations to the theme!

One avenue you could try is creating a custom page template in your child theme that you design to display 7 specific pages in the same grid format that the blog page now does.

You’d then assign a static page to your front page, and select your new custom template from the Page Attributes box.

Hope this helps point you in the right direction – good luck!

It definitely does. Thank you. I will submit my trials and errors as I go because I think this is something that comes up fairly often with themes that represent data (posts) with images as Pictorico does. I really don’t want to “get the page” because, obviously, I’m already on a page. I want to loop through the site’s seven pages in menu-order which I see is a supported (arg) and then embed the permalink. I know, easier said than done.
Thanks again for spreading your Automatic Happiness

If you really want a loop, this might help point you in the right direction:

WordPress loop to include pages content instead of posts
