  • I’m looking for some advice on the best way to integrate a database of members we have from a non-wordpress website.

Basically, the member list has all the usual fields that would integrate into the wp_users table, but it also has other user meta, like Street Address, City, State, Zip, Member Type, etc… Is there a way to integrate this easily into WordPress’s user table?

A plugin perhaps? I’d like to just do an “import” if possible, either via a process already setup via a member plugin or I am comfortable doing it via phpmyadmin.

Any ideas on the best way to go about this?

  • The Cimy User Extra Fields plugin will let you define extra fields for the User’s profile. The fields can be text, checkboxes, radio buttons, etc.

The Cimy User Manager plugin will let you import a CSV file into the Cimy User Extra Fields.

Another option is a great plugin called Easy Content Types by Pippins Plugins. It allows you to easily create Custom Post types, Taxonomies and Meta Boxes, which are a great way of keeping this sort of content seperate from your “regular” posts.

Alternatively, you could just used Advanced Custom Fields to simply create your own custom edit screen by adding Meta Boxes and custom fields to the existing Pages or Posts. Makes adding extra data such as addresses and the like, super easy!
