I need a theme for a recipe blog. I’d like it to be uncomplicated. I also need a plugin to manage the content. Print option, photo inclusion simple click, title font choices, and general options like categories, etc. I’ve looked at several but not all reviews are positive or it hasn’t been updated in years.

I need personal recommendations rather than lists of plugins though that can help.

Free, please. Many are free but without many features. I don’t need all the bells and whistles, just a simple plugin with a basic theme. Header photo can be changed.

    Left sidebar if possible

  • Go to the themes tab on this website, select “left sidebar”, also “responsive” so your site will work on mobile and tablets without much extra effort, browse the other options too. You will get lots of themes to choose from, pick a well used one, even try a few to see how they differ.

You do not need a plugin to manage your content. The mechanism is already present. The “posts” mechanism provides the ability to create blocks of text with pictures etc, AND associate the article with as many categories as you want. Initially start with a modest list of categories, you can easily add more later. Say you started with categories of:
    breakfast / lunch / dinner / desert / snack / vegan / vegetarian / chocolate / banana / orange / lemon / pasta / rice / potato
Then you can enter you recipes and tick as many categories as relevant.
You can create menu entries for categories, later on you might want a search form.

Thanks but I’d rather use one of the recipe plugins. I’m just not sure which so I’ll have to try each one
