need placeholder for author

Either I have a serious need for a placeholder for author or I’m missing something.
More that one person can create posts. When the email gets sent out by this plugin, there is no way to know who created the post. This is very important, I would think, for any blog where there is more than one contributor.
Something like {author} would be very helpful, so that the information about who created the post can be included in the email.
Am I missing something? I’m hoping that this is a relatively simple thing to do, that could be added to the plugin relatively quickly.
