• We would like to see an email subscription service added to WordPress, one which does not integrate into Google Analytics or any other company scraping our user’s email addresses from our site and compiling our user’s information and activities to build it’s own revenue generating database, fueled by our users personal information. Subscribe2, the previous best plugin for email subscriptions just sold out to ReadyGraph, another such entity. I would like for our users to be able to subscribe to posts while our integrity is maintained as we guarantee their email addresses are not being “handled” by a 3rd party outside of our support structure’s control.

  • That’s a really niche requirement and I can’t see it being added to core when there are so many plugins you can use.

Depends on what one considers “free”. If a plugin collects a site’s list of email IDs of subscribers and sends that list of email subscribers to Google, Facebook, WordPress.com, ReadyGraph or XYZ.com, then to me the plugin is NOT free but is instead compromising our user’s personal information while robbing one of the largest assets of the website, the private user subscription lists.
