This plugin is fantastic and yet the biggest problem I find with it is that there seems to be an expectation by the developer that anyone who uses it must be a webmaster or coder and the patience and intuition that goes with both territories.

Could you please dumb this down a little by providing things like a sample snippet (preferably a dynamically-generated one) to add to the .htaccess so that my Page Speed scores will be better. I am having the most difficult time trying to figure out how to get rid of the "Leverage browser caching" by trying various snippets from Apache and Google to no avail. This should be simpler and more helpful.

In my Page Speed warnings under "Leverage browser caching" it says that my CDN (CloudFront) files are listed under "The following cacheable resources have a short freshness lifetime. Specify an expiration at least one week in the future for the following resources:" This doesn't seem fair that I should get dinged by using the CDN for this.

Remember that the plugin isn't finished. The first step was to make a framework that optimizes common cases and then make it simple, that is make it work, then make it simple; a simple thing alone is what the market is already full of and even combined they're incomplete.

Anyway, those tests are recommendations, if you feel your site is fast as it is, then you're done. For browser caching, go to that page enable the various options and see how it affects your score when you save your settings, W3TC will automatically update your .htaccess if it can.
