[resolved] Need help with Singl looking different in IE vs Safari (6 posts)

I like the Singl WP theme. It looks exactly how I want in Safari, with a clean column of text down the middle. In internet explorer, however, the text overlies the background image, rendering it unreadable.

    1) The best solution would be to have the text overlie the image, but with the image fainter where the text overlies it.
    2) The second best solution is to have the text (post) overlie the image, with no visualization of the background image through the text., as it displays in safari. Is there a way to get IE to look like safari for this?

I am open to any ideas for a single column theme that does this better than Singl, especially one that supports a horizontal menu in the header, but they all seem to have page widths that are too wide, and I have no idea how to change the width.

    My site is http://www.lawrence.jennifer.com.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  3. Could you please let me know what version of IE is affected so I can test it? Thanks.

    Sure. It's 8.0.6001.18702IC

    Thank you for the help.

  5. Our themes should support IE9 and up. While we still try to make sure site content in IE8 is generally readable/accessible, the design may look "off" due to IE8's lack of support for mobile-first design techniques.

If you'd like to make CSS tweaks for particular versions of IE, you can try adding conditional comments to your CSS in a child theme.

    To target IE8 specifically:

    <!--[if IE 8]>
    your IE 8 styles here

Making a child theme means your changes won't be overwritten when you update the theme. If you're new to child themes, you can explore these guides:
