  • Some background information:
I am currently running WordPress with the “Members Only” and “Register Plus” plugins. Essentially these two ensure that only registered users can read the stuff I post and every registration has been approved.

I would like to use SFC so friends with Facebook accounts can use their existing information to view and comment on posts in my blog. So far, I have noticed the following problems.

Upon activating SFC, the “Login with Facebook” button appears on the login screen (which overrides the main page if a user is not logged in) – which is good. However, upon logging with Facebook credentials, I am then directed to the WordPress user registration page which then defeats the purpose of using shared credentials.

Going past this problem, I notice that when I view my own profile via the Dashboard, my Facebook avatar is extracted and displayed. However, when I comment on my posts, the avatar is a blank one (i.e. the default).

How do I solve these 2 problems?

    1. Turn off SFC-Register if you don’t want users to be able to register with FB credentials. To use SFC-Login, first log in normally, then go to Users->Your Profile and connect your WP account with your FB account. Then the login button will work for you.

    2. FB avatars are not normally used for users with WP accounts. If you want to use FB avatars for them, there’s some code at the bottom of SFC-Login that is commented out. Uncomment it and it’ll make avatars work.
