Okay, a bit of a loaded topic, but bear with me. My main goal is to be able to edit (in dreameaver) and upload my style.css/.php files (to my FTP) and see changes in real time, so I guess I’m looking to understand why I need to install a local web server? I’ve just installed XAMPP (PC) and got everything tweaked and working (via this tut http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_php.html)
I have two sites defined so far- portfolio and blog. My portfolio site in dreameaver connects using FTP, so when I save files they are automatically uploaded to the server, which is what I want with the WP blog. However, following the tutorial to getting a blog site setup, it says to connect through local/network. My question is how to make it like my portfolio site where I can open files in dreamweaver, edit them as much as I want, and when I save them they are automatically uploaded to the FTP and all changes now occur in real time; is it as easy as changing the connection type of my blog site to FTP and filling in all the correct info? Is there any need for a local web server at all then?
