prior to 2.5, you could make a home.php and use that as a starting page.
Not you can choose a page from the setting.
My problem is, that my whole site has two completly different styles. From template to stylesheet. One for the starting-page and the other one form the rest.
Making a simple page-template (if that is even possible for 2.5) does not help me much, because the header.php, footer.php and stylesheet is different. I used to place the whole loop into home.php, which worked just fine. Now I don’t know what to do. Of course the home.php is now ignored and I am a bit lost.

    Can anybody help me out?

  • home.php is still supported in 2.5 – I use it on my personal site and it works great. Please check your settings in wp-admin Options -> Reading and make sure that you have it set to “Front page displays -> Your latest posts”.

If this option is not selected, home.php will NOT be called as the template for your homepage.

    Thanks!

    Seem to work.
Someone should change the codex accordingly. In the template hirarchy it says, it doesn’t work anymore…

    omorchoe,
Your welcome! Could you post a link to the codex page in question? I justed skimmed through http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy and found no mention of home.php not working with 2.5.

    can’t find it anymore…

    maybe someone changed it allready?
If I happen to stumple over it again, I’ll let you know.
