Need Help linking WP.com profile with blog website

Hi, SO I had someone help me set up my blog using wordpress.. They gave me a username and password to log in to post and make changes on my blog. When I went to set up my profile pic it told me I needed to log in to my WP.Com profile to upload a pic via gravatar… However I have two separate accounts. One is just a log in for my site and another is a wp.com profile that says I have not created a website yet. How do i link my wp.com profile with my current log in I use to get on my website?? I’ve been going around in circles trying to figure out how to link the two so that I can upload a picture of myself as the author on my website. Please Help
