• So I have been working on redesigning a website for someone using wordpress. To give some background, I have used two domains: The “live” domain which the old site is currently hosted on, and the “test” domain that I used to build the new website with wordpress. I did this so that I could show my client the new website to see if he liked it or not.

Now I would like to activate the test wordpress site on the live domain. I had no trouble installing wordpress on the “test” domain, but now when I try to install it on the live domain it simply doesn’t work. After a long wait, there is just a 500 internal error. The sites are hosted by Yahoo, but after calling them, they said it was an issue with wordpress that they couldn’t speak to. Any thoughts why WordPress would install easily on one domain and not another?

    Thank you for any assistance!
    Nick

Thanks esmi, I actually have read this but I was panning on a simpler method of using the wp-backup plugin which would allow me to restore a new site after installation. However, my problem is that it will not install.

What wont install – the backup or WordPress? What – if any – error messages do you see?

The WordPress won’t install. All I need is to install wordpress so I can upload a backup. What I have done for other domains is install/activate through Yahoo’s hosting, and it just works. When I try this on my current site, it will create all the necessary files, and it will say that it has installed with a link to the site. But when I visit the site it doesn’t load, eventually showing an error: “500 – Internal Server Error”
