I downloaded wordpress onto my computer. when I go to downloads and open up wordpress it gives me a bunch of files that are php files, when I try to open them it says they cannot be opened and when you go online for help to open php files you get a whole load of crap that doesn’t open files and dumps stuff in your computer. I’M LOST, please help me.
You don’t install WP on your computer, it gets installed on a server. Unless you want to use it locally, then you can use XAMP or MAMP to turn yout PC into a local server.

You do not need to open those files as even dot in wrong place will give a parse error. If you do not have knowledge of php then just follow instruction on how to use wordpress and not go in core code files.
As is right now you using a browser to post on this forum do you know what is behind in code so that you can use the browser.
Same way wordpress use it as tool to create your website/blog
and will help along the way.
Do you have host account if not and you want learn how to use wordpress then you will need to install a Wamp server if you are using PC or Mamp on Mac.

Since you do not have any host account as it cost a monthly subscription so best way is to install it on your computer and I have video on how to install Wamp on your computer.
