I love this widget! It is simple and provides exactly the function I need for our Intranet, except for one thing.

I need to be able to show two sections
    – Birthday
    – Employee work anniversary

A couple of ways this could be implemented
1.) In the Birthdays add a category field, then in the widget add a selector of a particular category. This would allow me to use the widget twice in the sidebar, once for Birthdays and once for Anniversaries. This may be the simplest and most flexible for people.

    OR

2.) Add a second date to the Birthday field. Make the widget able to have a section for the first date with a custom heading, and a section for the second date with a custom heading. Icing on the cake would be to optionally allow the age to show or not. I don’t want it to show in the Birthday section but it would be nice in the Anniversary section.

With this additional functionality I think you would get a major bump in users as there are other intranet designers who do not want any of the full intranet plugins.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I am currently working on a solution for this “problem” you mention. Please be kind enough to check the other plugin i contribute to, Vertical Scroll Recent Post or this screenshot about the way I am thinking to handle it.

In simple words, there will be sets of options and each widget/shortcode will operate for the specific options. So if you have a set called birthdays the metafield used will be different from the metafield used in anniversaries set (just an example).
