Need an API key

    I am attempting to activate Akismet from my dashboard. I am told that I need a wordsmith.com API key. When I click the Get your key link, I am taken to a largely blank page with a very small “please login to view your profile” at the top. Obviously I am already logged in to have been able to reach my profile in the first place, but clicking that link and resupplying my information results in an invalid password error.

    Frustrating, to say the least. Anyone know what is going on here?

    Yes, we know what’s going on here.

    http://wordpress.com/api-keys/

    Read it. Sign up for a wordpress.COM account (this is different than your wordpress login on your own site). Get your API key from there.

    Why so many people looking for the API keys here? The Akismet Configuration page is very clear enough.

    Only been here three w\eeks, eh? Give it time, then you will understand 😐

    Its very rare that anyone reads, anyone uses Google, anyone does anything but post, hence the questions get very “been there done that” very quickly. I could script 60% of my answers.

    Yeah, pretty much. Been having serious deadlock on something I am working on. Thought helping others might help.
