Hello fellow wordpress enthusiasts,
I have designed a website for my university's newspaper. Thus far it has been a great success, but there is an issue that I have been unable to resolve, and would appreciate any advice / ideas on the issue.
The issue is this:
I need a plugin(s) that will allow me to control what posts appear on the front page. The problem I run into is this: I use the Post Highlights box at the top of the homepage to display four "featured" articles. I want to have an article that I pick from each section on the home page. I have tried several different solutions: category exclusion plugins, but that didn't work because, well, I'm not entirely sure WHY, but it messed up the post highlights box at the top of the page. I've tried the Clix Category exclusion plugin (still installed), and it works, but it's a pain in the ass to check every single post that I DON'T want to appear on the homepage. Also, if I check the "Don't show on homepage" box for the articles that are in the post highlights box, they don't show up in the post highlights area. Therefore, I have to have them in that area, but also displayed on the homepage.
Here is a link to the site for anyone interested in my dilema:
I cannot tell you how much I would appreciate some ideas / suggestions.
