Need advice on membership/newsletter/subscriptions

    Currently I am using a plug-in to get users to sign up in order to view a free guide.

    I am using the vertical response plug-in, but I really want to get instant emails when somebody signs up so that I can seize the initiative. This plug-in and other newsletter providers I have found email out once a day.

    What other methods can I use – perhaps the WordPress core itself?

    Any advice much appreciated.
