Need a webpage not a blog page

I would like to be able to create static pages (a webpage) that look more like a regular webpage instead of the blog look with posts showing.
I am trying to create pages with information that are static and where people can read the info but not post to it. I also do not want it to show a date etc. typical of blogs. I do want the page to show up in searches though.
How can I do this?
