Need a quick CMS theme for a charity website…

I’m starting a new charity site – BloggersBuildAHouse.org and need a quick clean CMS theme that I can use for a few days till I customize my own. Do you have any suggestions?

  • Do you want to use wordpress? It comes with a standard theme!?

Take a look at the themes at http://themes.wordpress.net/ – you can sort using the checkboxes on the left to narrow the display….

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ve spent many hours working my way through the themes in the past. I was hoping for someone to suggest a theme built with CMS in mind. One that deprecates the post functionality (entities cateloged by date and time) and promotes usage of categories and pages. I have written up notes for two such themes but haven’t had the time to create them. I’ve also been holding off till 2.1 solidifies a bit more, before I start them. The theme list doesn’t really categorize things in that way.

Anyway, any thoughts are more than welcome.

promotes usage of categories and pages

Hmmm. Categories without posts are useless. Pages don’t have categories.

You can do a lot at no cost with the default theme and plugins (e.g. static front page and sidebar widgets). If you don’t find gay content offensive (though the front page is unlikely to frighten anyone) have a look at

and you’ll get some idea of what you can do. I’ve yet to change the header graphic, but this isn’t difficult.

Well, for what it’s worth… I was just looking at this theme as the “starting point” for an upcoming CMS’ish project.
